Ways to create a functional and stylish home office for yourself

The home office was a concept restricted to people who had a special room dedicated to their working hours. This idea was limited to those who would run their businesses or practices from home and entertain clients. The role of a home office has changed drastically once almost everyone was expected to work from home. The creative solutions that people came up with in limited resources are proof that working from home does not need space but a vibe that promotes productivity and enhances your concentration.

Let us look at a few tips on how to design your work from home space.

1. Organize the space

Irrespective of what you might think, working whilst laying down on the bed is not a good idea. The productivity in a working environment is much higher and replicating that environment at home takes a small effort. Make a corner for yourself, where you can work every day. Get a laptop table and an ergonomically sound chair to support you during working hours. These small investments can make a big difference in the long run.

2. Make space for new stationery

Keep the things you frequently need handy and make an atmosphere that is synonymous with the kind at the office. Arrange the stationery you need properly and stop fumbling every time you need to write something down. This will not only save time and keep your things organized but also help in creating a foundation for your workspace.

3. Board

Keep a soft board, whiteboard, or memo board handy that will help you keep a track of your daily goals. While balancing home and work life, things can easily slip from the cracks of your memory and you end up cutting a sorry figure. To avoid this, keep a place where you can consolidate your goals, urgent appointments, and a to-do list, only for your office work.

4. Lighting

The preferred lighting for your office corner is natural lighting. However, if it is not possible to position yourself accordingly, then it is essential to ensure that the corner where you’ll be stationed is well lit. This is important for a number of reasons. The first reason is that dim lighting causes drowsiness and makes it more difficult to concentrate. The second reason is that if you are writing and using a laptop or a computer, then the brightest light is shining in your eyes and after a while, it is sure to affect your eyes and give you a headache.

5. Add a small decorative piece

Add a small potted plant, a dazzling pen stand, or any decorative item on your study table converted to a work table. It can be a candle and or a rug underneath your feet too. This one item can break the monotony and help you make the space functional yet cozy.

The more important part of a workspace is the background which you choose as most meetings have been converted to online meetings or video calls!
